Tithing and offerings are principles taught throughout the entire Bible. When we give to the work of the Church, we actively and habitually place God first in our lives, putting legs to our faith. It is a way for Jesus followers to thank God for His provision, sustain our trust in Him, and curb our greed.

Furthermore, giving is the primary way the Gospel is shared in our town. Ultimately, as we grow in our relationship with Jesus, we strive to become increasingly like him. Since Jesus was generous, we also want to grow in our generosity.

GIVE FIRST
The Bible says, “Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your harvest.”  (Proverbs 3:9). Consider giving to God first when you receive your paycheck as a sign of trust and honor. Just as farmers offer the first fruits of their harvest, we can demonstrate our trust in God by giving from the first part of our income.

To develop a spirit of generosity and free us from the influence of money, it's important to regularly practice giving back to God. Decide in advance how much you will give and commit to doing so consistently, whether it's on a weekly or monthly basis. Make it a priority by setting it up as the first online payment each time. The focus should be on "being generous" rather than simply "doing generous." Being truly generous requires ongoing effort. Therefore, decide in advance how much you will give and stick to it. Whether it's weekly or monthly, committing to a regular practice will help nurture a spirit of generosity.
